Does the library accept donations?

Answer

Acceptance of donated materials in new, like new, or gently used conditions is up to the discretion of the librarians at each branch.  The Corpus Christi Public Libraries can provide an acknowledgement form but are unable to place a value on materials donated.  Gifts, unsolicited materials, and patron suggestions for purchases are all evaluated under the same policies, principles, and selection criteria as regularly purchased materials. See policy #400 for our Collection Development guidelines.  Donated materials that are not added to our collection may be added to a book sale, donated to other organizations, or recycled.

Donations to the Local History and Archives Collection are handled at La Retama Library only.  See Library policy 300.01 or the Location History department for more details.

The Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraries accept donations and raise funds for books and special programs. They accept donations through PayPal, checks, or money order. Mail donations to:

Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraries
805 Comanche
Corpus Christi, TX 78401

The libraries may also accept specific donations at different times throughout the year to support local organizations such as a winter coat drive for local shelters or pet supplies for the Corpus Christi Animal Care Services. Visit our website or any library for more information about current donation drives.
