Do I have to pay to use the library?

Answer

The library is open to the public and free to use. Library cards are free to all Corpus Christi residents (Policy #200.03-200.04)

While visiting the library, guests are expected to follow our Patron Conduct guidelines (Policy # 102.03).

It is possible to spend money at the library if you choose:

  • Print or make black and white copies at our computers or copy machines.
  • Some locations have drink and snack vending machines.
  • Each library sells library supplies and merchandise like t-shirts, USB drives, yard signs, earbuds, and tote bags.
  • Non-residents can get a library card for a yearly $25 fee, or 6-month $12.50 fee (Policy #200.05).
  • Other fines or fees may be applied to library accounts for late, lost, or damaged items (Policy #204.00-204.05).

Funding is provided by the City of Corpus Christi to cover staff and operational costs. Other funds from organizations like the Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraries, Texas State Library and Archives Commission, and grants help boost library programs and services.
